Excel to PDF

Turn spreadsheets into PDFs for sharing and printing.

A PDF of a spreadsheet looks the same for everyone and can't be changed by accident, which suits invoices, reports and price lists. XLS, ODS and CSV files work too.

Almost any file

Images, vector art, video, audio, documents, spreadsheets, slides, ebooks and archives: more than 400 conversions. Before anything runs, Filebender says what a conversion will lose and estimates the size of video, audio and many pictures; other files show their size once converted. It compresses PDFs, pictures and videos to the size you choose.

No ads, no watermarks

With a free account: 20 files a day, 2 of them videos, each up to 500 MB. No plan has ads, and nothing is stamped on your files. A pass is one payment that never renews, and one you haven't used can be refunded in full.

Private by default

Files are deleted an hour after converting, or at once when you ask, and photo location is removed unless you choose to keep it. Photos converted to JPG, PNG or WebP are done on your device when your browser can, so they never leave it. They still need your account and count towards your plan.

How to convert Excel to PDF

  1. Create a free account with Google or your email address, or sign in.
  2. Choose your files: drop them on the box, pick them from your computer, open them from Google Drive, or paste a link.
  3. Pick the format each file should become. The gear button has size, quality and other settings.
  4. Press “Convert”, then download each file, or all of them in one ZIP.

Every sheet, in order

The sheets go into one PDF, one after another, each starting on a new page and laid out with the page setup saved in the spreadsheet: its print area, orientation, margins and scaling. Heading rows set to repeat print at the top of every page.

Wide sheets

A sheet wider than the page carries on over extra pages, so a wide table can end up split. Before converting, set the sheet to landscape and to fit all its columns on one page in your spreadsheet app's page setup, and the PDF follows it.

Charts, hidden rows and CSV files

Charts and pictures come across as they look, and hidden rows and columns stay hidden. The page size can be changed to A4 or Letter in the settings, which scales each page to fit. A CSV file has no page setup, so it's laid out as plain rows and columns.

Questions

Are formulas kept?

No. A PDF shows what each cell displays, so the results appear but the formulas behind them don't. Send the spreadsheet itself when someone needs to work with it.

Will numbers and dates look the same?

Yes: number formats, currencies and dates are shown as they're set in the spreadsheet.

Can I leave a sheet out?

Filebender converts the sheets the spreadsheet would print. To leave one out, delete it in a copy before converting, or take its pages out of the PDF afterwards with Delete PDF pages.

Is Filebender free?

Yes, with a free account: 20 files every day (up to 2 of them videos), each up to 500 MB, with no watermark and no ads. Make the account with Google or your email address. Files converted on your device count the same way as the rest. If you need more, a Day, Week or Month Pass is one payment that never renews; see the Pricing page.

What happens to my files?

It depends on the file. Pictures your browser can convert itself, and everything you do with the PDF tools, from merging and splitting PDFs to putting photos into one, are handled on your device and never leave it, unless you choose to send a file to Filebender's servers. They still need your account: Filebender receives only their type and size, to count them against your plan like any other file. Everything else is converted on Filebender's servers on Google Cloud and deleted an hour after the conversion finishes, or straight away when you press “Delete files now”. Nobody looks at your files, and they're never used for anything else.

Is there a size limit?

With a free account, each file can be up to 500 MB (about 4 minutes of HD phone video), and a batch can have up to 20 files. Any pass takes files up to 2 GB (about 15 minutes of HD video).
