Trim Video
Cut the start and end off a video, to a tenth of a second, and keep just the part you want.
Trim Video cuts the start and end off a video so you keep only the part you want: the goal, the answer, the useful minute of a long recording. MP4, MOV and WEBM videos stay in their own format.
Almost any file
Images, vector art, video, audio, documents, spreadsheets, slides, ebooks and archives: more than 400 conversions. Before anything runs, Filebender says what a conversion will lose and estimates the size of video, audio and many pictures; other files show their size once converted. It compresses PDFs, pictures and videos to the size you choose.
No ads, no watermarks
With a free account: 20 files a day, 2 of them videos, each up to 500 MB. No plan has ads, and nothing is stamped on your files. A pass is one payment that never renews, and one you haven't used can be refunded in full.
Private by default
Files are deleted an hour after converting, or at once when you ask, and photo location is removed unless you choose to keep it. Photos converted to JPG, PNG or WebP are done on your device when your browser can, so they never leave it. They still need your account and count towards your plan.
How to trim a video
- Create a free account with Google or your email address, or sign in.
- Choose your files: drop them on the box, pick them from your computer, open them from Google Drive, or paste a link.
- Drag the handles on the timeline, or type the start and end times, to choose the part to keep. “Play the part” lets you check it first.
- Press “Trim”, then download each file, or all of them in one ZIP.
Choosing the part
A strip of frames from the video shows where you are. Drag the start and end handles, move them with the arrow keys a tenth of a second at a time (a whole second with Shift), or type the times. “Play the part” plays just your selection so you can check it before trimming.
For a file from Google Drive or a link, or one your browser can't play, the timeline is a plain bar that works the same way.
Where the cut falls
The cut falls at the times you choose, to a tenth of a second, because the part you keep is encoded again rather than copied. A quick copy could only cut at keyframes, often seconds apart. Encoding takes a little while on long files.
How it counts
A trimmed video counts as one of your videos: with a free account, 2 a day among 20 files, each up to 500 MB. Trimming a video into MP3 or another audio format counts as an ordinary file instead. Trimming runs on Filebender's servers, and files are deleted an hour after converting.

Questions
What about MKV and AVI?
They can't be saved in their own format, so choose what they become, usually MP4.
Can I trim and shrink at once?
Yes. Add a size in MB in the settings and the bitrate is worked out for the trimmed length, not the whole video, so a short clip can stay sharp under a small limit.
Can I cut a section out of the middle?
Not in one go. A trim keeps one continuous part, from the start time you set to the end time.
Is the cut exact?
Yes, to a tenth of a second. The part you keep is encoded again, so the cut doesn't have to fall on a keyframe the way a quick copy would. That's also why trimming a long file takes a little while.
Is Filebender free?
Yes, with a free account: 20 files every day (up to 2 of them videos), each up to 500 MB, with no watermark and no ads. Make the account with Google or your email address. Files converted on your device count the same way as the rest. If you need more, a Day, Week or Month Pass is one payment that never renews; see the Pricing page.
What happens to my files?
It depends on the file. Pictures your browser can convert itself, and everything you do with the PDF tools, from merging and splitting PDFs to putting photos into one, are handled on your device and never leave it, unless you choose to send a file to Filebender's servers. They still need your account: Filebender receives only their type and size, to count them against your plan like any other file. Everything else is converted on Filebender's servers on Google Cloud and deleted an hour after the conversion finishes, or straight away when you press “Delete files now”. Nobody looks at your files, and they're never used for anything else.
