Resize Images and Video

Change the size of pictures and videos in pixels or by percentage, fit them to a shape, or make a whole icon set at once.

Choose a preset for a post, a story, a screen or a video resolution, or give your own size. Pictures and videos can go in the same batch, and each file can have a size of its own.

Almost any file

Images, vector art, video, audio, documents, spreadsheets, slides, ebooks and archives: more than 400 conversions. Before anything runs, Filebender says what a conversion will lose and estimates the size of video, audio and many pictures; other files show their size once converted. It compresses PDFs, pictures and videos to the size you choose.

No ads, no watermarks

With a free account: 20 files a day, 2 of them videos, each up to 500 MB. No plan has ads, and nothing is stamped on your files. A pass is one payment that never renews, and one you haven't used can be refunded in full.

Private by default

Files are deleted an hour after converting, or at once when you ask, and photo location is removed unless you choose to keep it. Photos converted to JPG, PNG or WebP are done on your device when your browser can, so they never leave it. They still need your account and count towards your plan.

How to resize images and video

  1. Create a free account with Google or your email address, or sign in.
  2. Choose your files: drop them on the box, pick them from your computer, open them from Google Drive, or paste a link.
  3. Enter the new size in pixels or as a percentage. The gear button has more settings.
  4. Press “Resize”, then download each file, or all of them in one ZIP.

Three ways to set the size

Percentage scales every file by the same amount. Width and height sets the size in pixels: with Keep the shape on, the picture fits inside that box, and with it off, the picture fills the box and the edges that don't fit are cropped.

Preset sizes include a square post (1080×1080), a story or reel (1080×1920), a link preview (1200×630) and Full HD (1920×1080), each filled and cropped to shape.

More in the settings

The gear adds longest side, which suits a mix of portrait and landscape photos, and aspect ratios such as 4:5 and 16:9, where you choose whether to fit inside, fill and crop, or stretch. Print resolution (DPI) is written into the file for printers without changing the pixels.

Video and icons

A video resolution such as 1080p or 720p sets the short side, so a video filmed upright on a phone keeps its shape. Resizing a video counts as one of your videos.

Icon sets turn one picture into a ZIP of square PNGs at every size a favicon, an app or a phone's home screen needs, with transparent corners kept.

Pictures resized by percentage, width and height or longest side into JPG, PNG or WEBP are often done on your device, without uploading them, when your browser can. They need your account and count as files like any other.

Resizers

Questions

Will resizing make my picture blurry?

Making it smaller keeps it sharp. Making it bigger can't add detail, so it looks softer. Filebender warns you when a size would enlarge a file, and you can turn enlarging off in the settings.

Can each file have a different size?

Yes. Open a file's gear to give it its own size, or use Settings for all files to change every file at once.

Does a resized photo keep its location?

Not unless you ask. Camera, date and location details are removed from photos by default; turn on Keep photo details in the settings to keep them.

Is Filebender free?

Yes, with a free account: 20 files every day (up to 2 of them videos), each up to 500 MB, with no watermark and no ads. Make the account with Google or your email address. Files converted on your device count the same way as the rest. If you need more, a Day, Week or Month Pass is one payment that never renews; see the Pricing page.

Why do I need an account?

Every plan needs an account, including the free plan. Your daily allowance and any pass you buy are kept with your account, and accounts keep automated abuse out. Making one costs nothing, with Google or your email address, and you can start converting as soon as it's ready.

What happens to my files?

It depends on the file. Pictures your browser can convert itself, and everything you do with the PDF tools, from merging and splitting PDFs to putting photos into one, are handled on your device and never leave it, unless you choose to send a file to Filebender's servers. They still need your account: Filebender receives only their type and size, to count them against your plan like any other file. Everything else is converted on Filebender's servers on Google Cloud and deleted an hour after the conversion finishes, or straight away when you press “Delete files now”. Nobody looks at your files, and they're never used for anything else.
