WEBP to JPG
Convert WEBP images to JPG, which almost every app and website accepts.
When a picture saved from the web turns out to be a WEBP, JPG is the safe way to use it elsewhere: photo apps, print kiosks, upload forms and email programs nearly all take JPG.
Almost any file
Images, vector art, video, audio, documents, spreadsheets, slides, ebooks and archives: more than 400 conversions. Before anything runs, Filebender says what a conversion will lose and estimates the size of video, audio and many pictures; other files show their size once converted. It compresses PDFs, pictures and videos to the size you choose.
No ads, no watermarks
With a free account: 20 files a day, 2 of them videos, each up to 500 MB. No plan has ads, and nothing is stamped on your files. A pass is one payment that never renews, and one you haven't used can be refunded in full.
Private by default
Files are deleted an hour after converting, or at once when you ask, and photo location is removed unless you choose to keep it. Photos converted to JPG, PNG or WebP are done on your device when your browser can, so they never leave it. They still need your account and count towards your plan.
How to convert WEBP to JPG
- Create a free account with Google or your email address, or sign in.
- Choose your WEBP files: drop them on the box, pick them from your computer, open them from Google Drive, or paste a link.
- Pick the format each file should become. The gear button has size, quality and other settings.
- Press “Convert”, then download each file, or all of them in one ZIP.
What happens to the picture
The WEBP is decoded and saved again as JPG at quality 82. If the WEBP was lossy, that's a second round of compression, but at this quality it rarely shows. Transparent areas, which JPG can't hold, are filled with white or a colour you pick under “Fill for transparent areas”.
If the picture is a logo, a screenshot or a drawing with see-through parts, WEBP to PNG keeps its edges cleaner than JPG can. For photos, JPG is the smaller and more widely accepted choice.
Animated WEBP
JPG is a still format, so an animated WEBP gives a JPG of its first frame. Choose GIF from the format list to keep it moving.
Where it's converted
A still WEBP of up to 50 MB normally converts on your device and isn't uploaded, as long as your browser reads WEBP and the device has the memory. It counts against your allowance like any other file, and your account has to be signed in. Animated WEBPs are converted on Filebender's servers.

Questions
Why was the picture a WEBP in the first place?
Websites serve WEBP because it's usually smaller than JPG, so pages load quicker. Browsers show it without trouble; it's other software that sometimes can't open it.
Will the JPG be bigger?
Usually a little, because JPG needs more space than WEBP for the same look. Lower the quality in the settings if the size matters more than the finest detail.
How many WEBPs can I convert?
With a free account, 20 files a day of up to 500 MB each. A pass takes more files, each up to 2 GB.
Is Filebender free?
Yes, with a free account: 20 files every day (up to 2 of them videos), each up to 500 MB, with no watermark and no ads. Make the account with Google or your email address. Files converted on your device count the same way as the rest. If you need more, a Day, Week or Month Pass is one payment that never renews; see the Pricing page.
What happens to my files?
It depends on the file. Pictures your browser can convert itself, and everything you do with the PDF tools, from merging and splitting PDFs to putting photos into one, are handled on your device and never leave it, unless you choose to send a file to Filebender's servers. They still need your account: Filebender receives only their type and size, to count them against your plan like any other file. Everything else is converted on Filebender's servers on Google Cloud and deleted an hour after the conversion finishes, or straight away when you press “Delete files now”. Nobody looks at your files, and they're never used for anything else.
