No ads · No watermarks · Files deleted after an hour
Ebook Converter
Convert ebooks to EPUB, MOBI, AZW3 or PDF.
A book in any of these formats can become any of the others, and FB2 books can be read in as well. Books with copy protection can't be converted.
Almost any file
Images, vector art, video, audio, documents, spreadsheets, slides, ebooks and archives: more than 400 conversions. Before anything runs, Filebender says what a conversion will lose and estimates the size of video, audio and many pictures; other files show their size once converted. It compresses PDFs, pictures and videos to the size you choose.
No ads, no watermarks
With a free account: 20 files a day, 2 of them videos, each up to 500 MB. No plan has ads, and nothing is stamped on your files. A pass is one payment that never renews, and one you haven't used can be refunded in full.
Private by default
Files are deleted an hour after converting, or at once when you ask, and photo location is removed unless you choose to keep it. Photos converted to JPG, PNG or WebP are done on your device when your browser can, so they never leave it. They still need your account and count towards your plan.
How to use the Ebook Converter
- Create a free account with Google or your email address, or sign in.
- Choose your files: drop them on the box, pick them from your computer, open them from Google Drive, or paste a link.
- Pick the format each file should become. The gear button has size, quality and other settings.
- Press “Convert”, then download each file, or all of them in one ZIP.
The formats
EPUB is the open standard most ebook readers and apps use. AZW3 and the older MOBI are Kindle formats, and AZW3 keeps more of a book's layout. FB2, or FictionBook, can be read but not written. PDF gives a book fixed pages for printing.
Reflowing text and fixed pages
EPUB, MOBI and AZW3 reflow: the reader picks the font size and the text fills the screen. A PDF has fixed pages, so a book made into a PDF gets page numbers at the foot of each page and a page size, A4 or Letter if you choose one in the settings.
What carries across
Chapters, the table of contents, the cover and pictures usually carry across between ebook formats. Books with complex layouts, such as cookbooks, keep more of it in AZW3 than in MOBI.
Converting a book to the format it's already in rebuilds it, which often makes the file smaller.

Questions
Why was my book refused?
It's probably copy-protected (DRM). Filebender doesn't remove protection, so it only converts books you're allowed to change, such as ones sold without DRM or ones you wrote.
Which format should I use for my e-reader?
EPUB for most readers and apps. For a Kindle, AZW3 keeps more of the layout than MOBI, and recent ways of sending books to a Kindle take EPUB as it is.
How big a book can I convert?
Up to 500 MB a file on the free plan and 2 GB with a pass, far more than a book of text needs.
Is Filebender free?
Yes, with a free account: 20 files every day (up to 2 of them videos), each up to 500 MB, with no watermark and no ads. Make the account with Google or your email address. Files converted on your device count the same way as the rest. If you need more, a Day, Week or Month Pass is one payment that never renews; see the Pricing page.
What happens to my files?
It depends on the file. Pictures your browser can convert itself, and everything you do with the PDF tools, from merging and splitting PDFs to putting photos into one, are handled on your device and never leave it, unless you choose to send a file to Filebender's servers. They still need your account: Filebender receives only their type and size, to count them against your plan like any other file. Everything else is converted on Filebender's servers on Google Cloud and deleted an hour after the conversion finishes, or straight away when you press “Delete files now”. Nobody looks at your files, and they're never used for anything else.
