No ads · No watermarks · Files deleted after an hour
Archive Converter
Convert RAR, 7Z, TAR and GZ archives to ZIP or 7Z, extract them, or convert the files inside.
Every archive is checked before a single file is taken out, and you can convert just the files you need from inside one without unpacking the rest.
Almost any file
Images, vector art, video, audio, documents, spreadsheets, slides, ebooks and archives: more than 400 conversions. Before anything runs, Filebender says what a conversion will lose and estimates the size of video, audio and many pictures; other files show their size once converted. It compresses PDFs, pictures and videos to the size you choose.
No ads, no watermarks
With a free account: 20 files a day, 2 of them videos, each up to 500 MB. No plan has ads, and nothing is stamped on your files. A pass is one payment that never renews, and one you haven't used can be refunded in full.
Private by default
Files are deleted an hour after converting, or at once when you ask, and photo location is removed unless you choose to keep it. Photos converted to JPG, PNG or WebP are done on your device when your browser can, so they never leave it. They still need your account and count towards your plan.
How to use the Archive Converter
- Create a free account with Google or your email address, or sign in.
- Choose your files: drop them on the box, pick them from your computer, open them from Google Drive, or paste a link.
- Pick the format each file should become. The gear button has size, quality and other settings.
- Press “Convert”, then download each file, or all of them in one ZIP.
Which archive format
ZIP opens on almost every computer and phone without an extra app. 7Z usually packs files smaller, but some systems need an app to open it. TAR.GZ is the usual choice on Linux and for software. Filebender packs each with that format's strongest compression setting.
Taking files out
Choose Extract files to get everything back as separate downloads, with the folders kept in their names. Or open What's inside, tick the files you want and convert them, a PDF to Word or photos to JPG, without the rest.
Unpacking an archive counts as one file, and so does each file you convert from inside one.
Checked before it's opened
Every archive is listed and checked before anything is taken out. Archives with more than 10,000 files, archives that would expand to more than 4 GB, and archives that try to write outside their own folder or hold links are refused. An archive inside an archive stays packed until you convert it too.

Questions
Can it open a password-protected archive?
No. Extract it on your computer with its password, then add the files themselves, or pack them again without a password.
How do I convert just one file from a ZIP?
Add the ZIP, open What's inside, tick the file and press Convert the ticked files. It joins the list like any other file, with its own format and settings.
What's a zip bomb?
A small archive built to expand into an enormous amount of data. Filebender compares each archive's size with what it would expand to, and refuses one that grows far too much before taking a single file out.
What happens to my files?
It depends on the file. Pictures your browser can convert itself, and everything you do with the PDF tools, from merging and splitting PDFs to putting photos into one, are handled on your device and never leave it, unless you choose to send a file to Filebender's servers. They still need your account: Filebender receives only their type and size, to count them against your plan like any other file. Everything else is converted on Filebender's servers on Google Cloud and deleted an hour after the conversion finishes, or straight away when you press “Delete files now”. Nobody looks at your files, and they're never used for anything else.
